Ah...I just got this from AP. I reviewed it there too but I'll do the same here
in case you don't have time to read both. Lineless vectoring doesn't really go
well with such a bright and hazy setting. I'm guessing you're not very good with
lines? Kira's face looks all right but Lacus' face looks really artificial
against your vectoring. And you totally screwed up Lacus' left breast there. Why
the heck did her underboob suddenly flatten out like that? Just compare it to
the curvature of the right one and you can clearly see that you've gotten it
wrong...
Conversely the text was fine and I really liked the background setting. This
would have been a pretty great wall if you'd only outlined the whole vector
instead of just a line here and there. (And learn some female anatomy, dammit.
Look what you've done to my Lacus!) In the end, I definitely prefer EevaLeena's
original wall. Or better yet, see how it's really done by checking out pvc24's
wall over at AP. It is the most ultimate version of this theme so far.
I hope you don't find my comments discouraging or anything but I think without
honest criticism, you won't improve. You have a good eye for layout and setting
(which is really important in walling) so now all you need is to improve your
vectoring skills a bit. I guess that's it. As a fellow guy, I'm amazed you made
such a mistake with Lacus though. There's almost nothing sexier than a naked
girl holding her arms over her head because you can see every curve. Well,
hopefully you'll show some improvement in your next wall. Until then, take care!
Oh, my gosh...looking at the original scan, anyone can see that you had to
reconstruct C.C. almost entirely! Adding all those details to her hair and
outfit is simply outrageous and I applaud your ambition. I think the
candy-themed background is probably the best representation of the effort you
put into this rather than the C.C. vector. I don't know how but you took a
ludicrous concept and managed to not only make it look not stupid, but actually
quite interesting to look at.
Now the not-so-good news. Just one real nitpick which others have already
mentioned. You didn't do too good a job on her legs, more specifically the left
leg. The right leg is fine but the left leg is actually narrowing as it goes up
her thigh to her waist. Either that or her knee is too high and her thighs are
virtually non-existant. Either way it really looks just wrong and ruins an
otherwise perfect picture.
Again, I am in awe of the scope of your ambition and the precision at which
you've managed to pull it off. But despite how much I love your work in this,
that left leg is really bugging me and I can't bring myself to fav this. I
wouldn't go as far as saying you need lessons in anatomy and/or perspective
but...in future if you have to totally reconstruct a character's form and
posture it might help to get an opinion or two from others. Everyone makes
mistakes after all, especially the more grandious the undertaking. Hope to see
more of your walls here in future. Until then, take care!
For some reason the first scan was deleted (LOST COLORS 1). This is why I don't
post anything here anymore. So for the sake of your collection, I'm posting
another link to it. The game is for the PS2 and PSP and is to be expected at the
end of March this year. Enjoy the scan:
Hey, Kairi. I had noticed not seeing your comments or works lately. I had no
idea you were struggling with depression. Hopefully you'll find a way around it
on your own, but if it gets worse with no end sight I suggest you start trying
medication.
I love vectors of Lelouch and CC and was amazed I hadn't seen one of this scan
before. Anyway, the hair is usually the most difficult part of vectoring
characters but in this case I'm also impressed at the details you maintained on
their outfits. More often than not finer details are lost in the vectoring
process.
I hope by the time you read this you're feeling somewhat better. Thanks for the
great vector. Adding to favs. Take care of yourself and I hope you have a Happy
New Year!
I guess abul would be the resident expert on Carnelian around here considering
how many scans he's vectored. It's very nice artwork but I think I prefer the
original Clamp-style better myself. Thanks very much for sharing this scan
anyhow, Scampi. Take care!
Ooh...never seen this scan before. And now it's vectored too. I too am curious
why you blurred out the fluffy bits on her dress so much. My guess is that you
were blurring out the champagne(?) droplets and suddenly flipped out before
blurring out all the white you could see in the image. LOL!
"The Lacus living in your head"? That's so funny. I can just see her
hovering over you and guilt-tripping you in her regal voice, "I am Lacus
Clyne. Did removing me from your userpage make you happy? Is that what you
really want? Please stop doing meaningless things and vector scans of me
instead." She's so manipulative that way; but that's what made her so
awesome in the first series, IMO.
Your vector is beautiful. I couldn't find anything noticably wrong with the
frills. The details on the bottle and her hair impressed me a little. My one
other complaint is her eyes. I see very distinct poligons there and I think it
would have benefited from some filtering. Other than that, everything's lovely.
Nice to see you vectoring again (plus vectors of Lacus-sama are always welcome).
Faving this for Lacus' cute expression and hot leggings (not too crazy about her
hair in this one). Thanks for sharing this and I hope you're doing all right,
ASH. Until the next time, take care! Cheers!
You love(d) Sailor Moon? Oh, wow...I learn something new about people everyday.
I always figured you for the more eccentric-artist-type from your vectors and
thought you loved stuff like xxxHolic or something. You actually cried while
watching Sola? Wow again...
I can see how Aono was supposed to be the "villain" of the show but I
don't think she deserves to be hated. If Matsuri hadn't interfered with her life
(both times) she wouldn't have turned out that way. If anything, I think the
anime is about Matsuri's life coming full-circle by redeeming her one regretful
sin.
But enough about that, on to the vector-wall. Why the heck did you texture-over
the vector? Was it to hide the painted background or was it an artistic choice?
Either way, I personally feel it undermines all the work you put into vectoring
the scan a little. On the other hand, the texture you chose was interesting. I
don't know if you've ever played the "Silent Hill" games but that's
what it reminds me of. So much so that I'm tempted to recolor your wall in reds
and oranges to parody it but I reconsidered because I don't know if that would
offend you or not.
Sorry for making you read all that, I'll try to wrap up. You can probably guess
that I prefer the textureless version more; I feel it really shows your efforts
into vectoring the scan (not to mention painting the bg yourself). Your work is
exemplery as always and Matsuri looks kind of shy yet seductive in this wall.
It's all good. Thanks for sharing (all versions) of this vector-wall, abul. I
d/loaded at least 3 out of 4. I eagerly look forward to your next vector; and if
it's more Sola then all the better. Until then, take care. Cheers!
Ooh...I'm glad I waited and got the "higher quality" vector. As it is
now, it looks great. Both Matsuri and Aono look lovely and your background looks
nice without distracting from the vector. All the colors and shading look
spot-on so...nicely done, pandemonium91, and I hope you'll keep up the good work
in future. Until the next time, take care!
Matsuri actually looks kind of scary in this scan. Her chin is too sharp and her
mouth is too high up (too close to her nose). Am I the only one who notices
that?
Still, the rest of the scan is beautiful. I particularly like how the blue of
the sky in her umbrella is not quite the same blue as the real sky, which makes
me wonder if she still longs to see the real sky even though she has her
umbrella. Thanks for sharing this, templa. Take care!
Ooh...Kira and Lacus. I always like art of Gundam SEED's ultimate power couple
and I've been waiting for someone to come out and vector this scan for a while
now.
I love everything about this vector. All the frills on Lacus' dress and her
flowing pink hair. All the colors and details on Kira seem well-preserved too.
My one minor complaint is the color of Lacus' eyes. They're almost the color of
her dress so I think you should have brought out the blue more.
Other than that, everything's perfect. Adding to my favs and I hope you'll keep
up the good work. Until the next time, Rael, take care. So long!
Ooh...another GSD vector by EevaLeena! Or re-vector as it seems, though I don't
recall if I've ever seen the originals here. The emblems are looking good, I can
see a lot of the details clearly. I'm not so sure about the eyes though. They
seem kinda...glossy, for lack of a better word.
Nitpicking aside, you did a phenominal job on their uniforms and hair. Excellent
work and I hope to see more from you soon. Until the next time, take care!
Argh...you just reminded me that I'm lolicon for Little Lacus. She's only seen
briefly in a recap episode of GSD but I remember it gave me lolita-complex.
Considering your source image, I think you did a pretty amazing job on this,
saki-xan. The details on the roses and the butterfly are very well done indeed,
as well as Lacus' hair. Maybe you should have used a darker outline for her
dress though. It blends into the green background a little too well.
Oh, well...congrats on a job well done. Thanks for sharing this and I hope
you'll keep up the good work. Until the next time, please take care. Now if
you'll excuse me, I have to go confess my sins...
Bwa hah hah! You've been Geass-ed by Lelouch, abul! You will now vector nothing
but him, his sister and his pretty green-haired witch! I don't know if they
mentioned how long these contracts last in the series, could be days or even
weeks...
8 hours=forever...ahh, no one knows the pains of a master vectorer. To the
average hopeful CG artist, we look upon your source scans and go,
"Holy-moley! This could take days to clean! Maybe even weeks!"
Vectoring doesn't even enter the mind until we get past a quarter of the
text-removal...
There is nothing I can say about your vector that hasn't already been said
probably. Needless to say, it is awesome as usual. Don't you think Lelouch's
expression in this is extremely odd though? I mean, what kind of face is that
he's making? At least C.C. is smouldering hot in this as usual. Anyway, I've
taken enough of your time. Thanks for sharing your incredible vectors with us
again and please take care until the next time. Oh...and good luck getting rid
of your Geass. Heh heh...
Ooh...nurse Hakufu. Actually I'm not so sure that's a good thing. She's clumsy
and ditzy, not to mention ungodly powerful. You might actually wind up worse off
than when you started. Anyway, it's still a kawaii scan. Thanks for sharing this
(and the Kaku one too, BTW). Take care!
Ah, the original Lacus Clyne (before they watered-down her character in the
sequel). She could always make me go into "SEED-Mode", if you know
what I mean. Nevermind if you don't...
This is a beautiful wallpaper and I look forward to using it when I get my new
widescreen monitor. I remember the scan being in two halves so you probably had
to redraw some of it. And you vectored the colors extremely well. Especially her
hair where you can see all the subtle levels of shading with the glow. Finally
you put a lot of detail into the eyes.
Your watermark is a bit obvious at the bottom though. Hopefully the taskbar will
conceal it. Anyway, it's a very lovely wall and a pretty decent vector too.
Adding it to favs! Thanks for sharing it here. Until the next time, take care!
Thanks for sharing this here. I just love the new ending theme and in the show
it is accompanied by delicious fantasy shoujo-ai between Miyuki and Natsumi.
Thanks again and take care!
Yep, LilLaoRyo is right on the money. She's from Gundam 00 and you should move
it if you can. Or one of the mods should. I wonder why she's holding scissors
though. Anyway, thanks for sharing this, Fenafir. Take care!
I was wondering why this vector took you 8 hours to do, but the Nunnally one
took only 6 hours. Then I saw the source image and realized you had to redraw
the image to remove the text. THEN I realized that redrawing AND vectoring the
whole thing in 8 hours was insanely fast. You really are a monster, aren't you?
Just kidding, I meant master. The details on the sword and chair are well
preserved too. Another awe-inspiring vector. Cheers!
If I didn't know you better, I wouldn't believe you vectored the whole thing in
six hours! The hair alone should have taken six hours! Your skills are awesome,
man. Respect.
I also noticed how your outlines are thick in some areas and thin in others.
That must come from lots of experience too, right? Anyway, the coloring is great
too and Nunnally looks really cute. Great job and I look forward to your next
vector/act of insanity. LOL! Until then, take care. Cheers!
Again very few black outlines. But this time it shows a little more, especially
in Kira's hair. I think that area could have benefitted from a darker outline.
Lacus looks great though. I really like the flow of her hair and her dress. I
can see how the hair was the most difficult part of this vector. Anyhow, aside
from Kira's hair looking a bit funny, this is a really high-class vector job.
Congrats and I hope you'll keep vectoring Lacus scans for us! Until the next
time, take care!
Wow...I didn't really notice it until moonescape mentioned it but you didn't use
any black outlines! Normally I'd expect that to look a little weird and
extra-cartoony but the fact that I didn't notice it immediately means that
you've done it extremely well indeed.
I really like what you did with her hair and dress too, they look lovely.
Another marvelous vector from you. It's a good thing your brother sent you
another copy of Illustrator, huh? Keep up the good work and take care!
C.C. seems to be enjoying herself a bit too much in the Zero costume. And
Lelouch doesn't look too happy about it. Priceless expressions. Thanks for
sharing this, Scampi!
